In this interview it shows tha hardships that jim Cole had to o throuh while he ws working in the slaughter house. The reason that he wa upset was because he had been workin there for 20 years and he had as much experience as the others and they still wouldnt let him into the workers union, he thought because he was a negro.
In the next article i read it was about how a woman named Bernice came up with a smart tactic for getting the money that she needed to pay her rent. After her husband left her she had a 60 dollar rent to pay and her job didnt cover all of it. So two people that lived in her apartment thouht of the idea that she could have rent parties. This is when you rent out your room to college kids on sturday nights and they pay you for it.
